#ThaiGP: Pecco Bagnaia on the podium in Thailand

Pecco Bagnaia on the podium in Thailand, Iván Ortolá fights in Moto2.

The Thai Grand Prix at the Chang International Circuit delivered a weekend full of excitement and spectacle, with MotoGP and Moto2 riders engaged in fierce battles. In MotoGP, Pecco secured an excellent result, showing strong competitiveness in both the Sprint Race and the Sunday race. In Moto2, Iván Ortolá faced a challenging race, fighting to achieve the best possible result.

SPRINT RACE

The Sprint Race saw an excellent performance from Pecco Bagnaia, our Suomy Rider, who managed to secure a podium finish in third place after an intense 13-lap race. Starting from the front row thanks to a strong qualifying session, the Ducati rider maintained his position in the early stages and gradually consolidated his placement. Pecco unfortunately struggled with grip issues, especially at the front. However, Bagnaia managed his race pace well, earning crucial points for the championship standings, which has just begun.

RACE

In the Sunday race, Bagnaia confirmed his competitiveness by once again finishing in third place after 26 laps of fierce competition. After a strong start, Pecco tried to keep up with the frontrunners, defending his position and crossing the finish line just a few tenths behind the second-place rider. With this result, our champion begins his quest for the world title, collecting valuable points for the season.

In Moto2, Iván Ortolá, our Suomy Rider, faced a difficult Grand Prix, having to manage the challenges of the race and compete against highly competitive opponents. Although he was not among the main contenders of the weekend, Ortolá gave his best, completing the race with determination and gaining valuable experience for the rest of the season.

The next round of the championship will take place in Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina, from March 14 to 16.

“It was a positive race, especially in light of how things went during testing and after what happened yesterday. Clearly, we can be only 60 to 70% satisfied, as we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to make a full evaluation of the weekend. We still need to make some steps forward ahead of the race as I struggled a bit today, especially with regards to the front-end. Tomorrow’s race is going to be a long one and there isn’t a harder option available than the one I used today; the tyre choice will be crucial, but I saw some interesting things today on the track and we’ll work based on this and the data we gathered.”

“I was expecting a bit more today but honestly speaking, the race was a very long one and I couldn’t bridge the gap. I tried to get closer to Alex, but each time I was less than half a second away from him, I ended up struggling grip-wise. I tried everything I could but my feeling wasn’t perfect today. We lost 14 points this weekend, but we need to look forward and try our best in Argentina. It’s not my favourite circuit, and this one wasn’t either, but we’ll do our best to get a good result.”
