FRANCESCO BAGNAIA WINS THE SPRINT AND DOMINATES THE RACE BUT FALLS SHORT OF THE TITLE.
A weekend of absolute dominance for our Suomy Rider Francesco Bagnaia, who won both the Sprint Race and the main Race, proving himself to be a great champion. Pecco remained highly focused right from Friday’s practice sessions, demonstrating an impressive level of physical and mental fitness. However, the victories in the Sprint Race and Sunday’s race were not enough to clinch the world championship title, which he narrowly missed by just a few points.
SPRINT RACE
Pecco Bagnaia, with an excellent start from pole position, took the lead on the very first lap and managed to control the race all the way to the checkered flag. Our Suomy Rider reduced the gap to Martín to 19 points, aware that the challenge would remain extremely difficult, even by repeating his success in Sunday’s race. Bagnaia showcased an outstanding level of physical and mental form, staying focused until the end and making no mistakes, even under pressure.
RACE
Francesco Bagnaia and his Suomy S1-XR GP ended the 2024 MotoGP season on the top step of the podium thanks to his victory in the 24-lap race at the ‘Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.’ An impressive display of dominance throughout the weekend, but it was not enough to secure the MotoGP world championship title.
Bagnaia made a perfect start from pole position, maintaining his lead in the race all the way to the checkered flag. Thanks to this success, Pecco increased his tally to eleven wins in Sunday’s races (in addition to his seven victories in sprint races), finishing the 2024 MotoGP World Championship in second place.
“We did what we had to do, but 19 points still represent a huge gap and it’ll be difficult to take them back. We’ll do our best and what will be, will be, but in any case, I’m having fun out there this weekend: we’ve been fast from the first session and that makes me happy. We simply have to keep going this way. Enea did an incredible start, maybe the best start I have ever seen with a Ducati, but at turn one I didn’t brake as hard as I could because I know that turn one can be a bit tricky here. It was important to get first position back as soon as possible and we did it, and I believe we’ll have to do something similar tomorrow.”
Francesco Bagnaia – Sprint Race 1th
“We already knew before the race started that it was going to be tough, but we still did what we had to do. Jorge was great, and today the stage is all his; he is truly an amazing rider. This year, we have shown our full potential, and the numbers confirm it. We definitely need to work on minimizing mistakes and lapses, which always happen in this sport. Every season is important, and there’s nothing wrong with losing; 2024 was still full of satisfaction, beyond the final result. We’ll try again next year.”
