#ArgentinaGP: Pecco wraps up with a fourth-place finish
Our Pecco wraps up the Argentina Grand Prix weekend with a podium and a fourth-place finish!
Our Suomy Rider, champion Francesco Pecco Bagnaia, finished the Argentina Grand Prix with a third place in the Sprint Race and a hard-fought fourth place in Sunday’s race. These are solid results, especially considering that the Argentine circuit has never been among Pecco’s favorites and that in a couple of corners, he struggled to match the speed of his rivals and teammate.
SPRINT RACE
In Saturday’s Sprint Race, Bagnaia secured a solid third place. Despite showing competitiveness, he acknowledged the need to improve in some corners where he was losing time to his opponents. His statements are encouraging, as Pecco remains confident. With only two Grands Prix completed, our Suomy Rider believes in his potential and is working to regain the right feeling with the bike, just like in 2024. For this reason, Pecco is focusing on rediscovering the right sensations with a bike that has only slightly changed but possibly in a direction that is not optimal for him.
RACE
During Sunday’s main race, Bagnaia fought for the podium but finished in fourth place. His pace was consistently strong, matching that of the leaders, but Pecco continued to struggle with a feeling that was inferior to what he had with last year’s bike. Bagnaia, currently third in the overall standings, is 31 points behind the championship leader. The Italian rider remains confident in his abilities and the support of his team for the upcoming races, aiming to close the gap and return to the podium soon—possibly as early as the next round on American soil.
“I felt better and the result had a better taste, as I haven’t always felt comfortable at this track. In the end, third place is a good result. We know we need something more but we’re narrowing the gap down to the two ahead, so we need to continue in this direction. It’s clear where we’re losing time, specifically at turns six and eleven, and now we need to make a step forward ahead of tomorrow, but we remain calm and collected.”

“I tried to keep a consistent pace, but my strategy didn’t work. When Franco (Morbidelli) passed me, I tried to stay with him, but I struggled a little bit. I managed to get up to speed in the final laps, but I had no chance to try and overtake me. It’s true that we narrowed the gap down, but not enough. Our pace was similar to the frontrunners, but not close enough to finish on the podium. I still miss the feeling I had last year, despite the two bikes being very similar, but we’re working on it and we’ll try to make another step forward at Austin. We need to stay focused because it’s a long season, and it’s important to finish every race, and with the best possible result.”
