We could not wish a better start to our defending champion Pecco Bagnaia, who at the Algarve circuit in Portugal opens the 2023 MotoGP season not only with a sensational victory in the Sunday race, but also by conquering the top step of the podium in the Sprint Race, the new short race that will be run every Saturday afternoon for half of the laps that make up the classic Sunday race.
Our Suomy rider thus becomes the first rider in MotoGP history to win a Sprint Race!
A textbook start to the season for Pecco, who starts the Sunday race with the second fastest time, conquers the lead of the race from the second lap and manages to defend the first place until the end.
Thanks to the two victories obtained in Portugal, our reigning champion Pecco takes the lead of the classification, 12 points ahead of Maverick Viñales.
The Suomy #family could not be more proud of Pecco, who, thanks to the two victories scored in the GP of Portugal, baptizes in the best possible way Suomy S1-XR, the new and revolutionary Suomy racing helmet designed and developed specifically for the world champion Pecco Bagnaia!
“This is definitely the best start to the season I have ever had in my career, so I can only be happy. My team and I did a great job during testing, so the bike setup was already pretty much defined at the beginning of the weekend. In Argentina, the situation will definitely be different. Still, my feeling with the new bike is incredible, so I think we will be ready to face any condition.”
Francesco Bagnaia – 1st

It wasn’t as happy a weekend for for our Suomy rider Romano Fenati, who at the Algarve circuit closes his race in nineteenth position.
Twenty-fifth on the starting grid, Romano tries to reach the leading group, but he is also forced to suffer a long lap and the comeback becomes impossible.
“Unfortunately today we knew that starting so far back would have penalized us. Now we immediately have another race in Argentina so we’ll try to work on the first data we have from the race”.
Romano Fenati – 19th
