#MisanoGP

ITALIANS DO IT BETTER

Misano, our home race. And, perhaps, the most exciting race of the season (at the moment) for the #SuomyRiders.

MisanoGP X Suomy = A victory, a second place, a third place and the first position in the MotoGP World standings.

An incredible Sunday. Indescribable, would be the right word.

Last in chronological order, but the most heroic of our riders is, for today, the immense Pecco Bagnaia who, after a bad injury that forced him to a five-week break, takes his first well-deserved podium in MotoGP. A second place that is worth a win. A feat for this guy who has believed in it since Friday and who, despite still walking with the help of a crutch, wins a race in which he proved his worth and which enchanted the audience at Misano. Only applause and bows for you Pecco.

“When I arrived to Misano my goal was only to finish the race. On Saturday during FP3 when I just thought about riding I understood that I could push and my feeling when I rode was the same that I had in Jerez. The start of the race wasn’t very good, I lost some positions so I had to recover the gap with Mir. When I passed him I saw that I could reach the head group.I hadn’t thought about my leg and I thought only about my first podium in MotoGP during my home race with the fans. During the last 4 laps I felt pain but today we deserved this podium. I want to thank my team, Ducati and my sponsors for their big support. Today this podium is for them. I’m looking forward to be back on this track”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA

More complicated the race of Andrea Dovizioso who struggled from the first free practice session to find the right feeling with his bike. Starting from ninth place on the grid, Dovi manages not to lose positions at the start. Only towards the end of the race, he finally caught the rider in front of him, finishing in the seventh position.  Thanks to this result, he took the lead in the Championship standings, 6 points ahead of the first contender.

ANDREA DOVIZIOSO

“It was a tough race. Since I was starting from the back, I struggled a lot to find the rhythm at the beginning. I still can’t be as competitive as I would like with these tyres and the riding style I’ve always adopted in the past years is not working right now. Fortunately, this Tuesday, we will have a day of testing here in Misano, which will be very important to try to solve this aspect. The championship this year is weird, and now we are leading the standings. We have to see the positive side of the current situation and continue to work, putting all our effort to come back stronger in the next races. I congratulate Pecco on his great performance today”.

After his first e-pole achieved on Saturday, Matteo Ferrari confirms himself as the rider to beat here at the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit, conquering a great victory. Seeing the Italian flag on the top step of the MotoE podium, together with SR-GP, is priceless.

“I’m really happy with the win, although at the start I struggled to stay with Casadei and Simeon. I went wide at Quercia but I was able to recover and stay with the leaders. We did a fantastic job and even if the tyres wore out a bit in the final stages we managed to get a very important win and leave behind the disappointment of Jerez and the grid penalty, which is such a short race could have been crucial”.

MATTEO FERRARI

A race of great determination has been made by Enea Bastianini who, to establish the bond with the Greek warrior of his same name whose greatness he wanted to celebrate with a special helmet, fights until the last lap to conquer a very important second position for the overall Moto2 rankings, that saw him at the second place.

ENEA BASTIANINI

“Last night I was sick and also this morning I didn’t feel good, but I gritted my teeth and managed to make the podium. It’s a shame for the mistake at La Quercia: the pace was good and I could have taken the lead, but by now we were at the end and it was impossible to do better “.

More complicated the race of Stefano Manzi and Nicolò Bulega. Penalized respectively by a long lap penalty and a crash during Saturday’s practice, they finish in seventeenth and fifteenth place.

STEFANI MANZI

“It was certainly a difficult race. After a good detachment at the start, at turn 2 I immediately made contact with another rider, where my front speed sensor broke and this also damaged the rim. A very tiring race. I was also in the points area, but trying to contain these difficulties I sometimes went very wide, taking the long lap penalty for the track limit. And so I finished 17th, losing 5 ”. We are confident to do much better next week and redeem ourselves.”.

NICOLO’ BULEGA

“A difficult race, but we struggled throughout the weekend. Yesterday’s crash didn’t help and Today I surely wasn’t 100% fit, but it’s clear that we have to do better and start from a more favorable position on the grid. Let’s keep our heads down and look forward to next weekend”.

Great result also for Romano Fenati who is able to achieve both the best position on the grid (fifth place) and the best final result (eighth position) of the season. Well done!

ROMANO FENATI

“We have improved and this weekend has been the most positive so far. I can’t wait to hit the track again on Friday “.
