After the Malaysian Grand Prix, the fight for the World Title between our Suomy rider Pecco Bagnaia and his Spanish opponent Jorge Martín is becoming increasingly heated.
At the Sepang circuit Pecco gives two excellent performances, both in the Sprint Race on Saturday and in the long race on Sunday, conquering the third place in both.
Saturday’s race opens with our Suomy rider in first position, but on the fifth lap, due to a fronted vibration on his bike, Pecco suffers a drop in performance and slips to third place, thus closing the race on the last step of the podium.
A different scenario arises during the Sunday’s race, even if for Pecco the result is the same as the one obtained in the Sprint Race.
Indeed, however Pecco is first on the starting grid, he is unable to defend his position and from the first lap finds himself third, chased by his direct rival Jorge Martín with whom he starts a heated brawl that ends a few laps later , when the reigning World Champion manages to gain a 3.5 second advantage over the Spanish rider, thus protecting the third place until the end of the race.
Thanks to these results obtained at the Sepang circuit, Pecco extends his lead over Martín to 14 points.
With two Grands Prix still to go, our Suomy rider will have to defend first place in the standings from a fierce Jorge Martín in order to confirm himself as World Champion for the second year in a row.
“For sure it was very important to finish in front of my rival today. It wasn’t easy because after our battle I tried to catch the other two guys, but it was very risky because as soon as I was close to Alex, I struggled with too much tyre movement at the front, and it was better to finish the race and take the points. I’m very happy with everything, we managed to be competitive from the start of the weekend and I was in pole for the first time since Barcelona. Now we move on to Qatar which is another track where I go fast normally. There it will be the same situation and it will be important to fight back like we did today and give the maximum”.

MOTO3
An unfortunate return in Moto3 for our Suomy rider Romano Fenati, who, after being out of action due to an ankle injury, returns to the track at the Malaysian Grand Prix with a great desire for redemption, however failing to complete the race due to a fall on the third lap.
“I’m a little disappointed that I wasn’t able to fight during the race. Unfortunately, a front lock affected my performance. I hope to have the opportunity to make up for it in Qatar at the next GP”.
