#FrenchGP
A weekend, the one just ended, that kept everyone in suspense. The FrenchGP, on the beautiful and narrow Le Mans circuit, saw our Suomy Rider, Pecco Bagnaia, being very fast right from the FP. Pecco was preceded only by Jorge Martin during the first stages of the weekend. A second place that accompanied him in FP1, FP2 and Q2.
Unfortunately, however, the Sprint Race lost Pecco already in the initial stages when the Ducati Lenovo Team rider retired due to technical problems with the second bike he had had to line up after falling at the end of Q2. Sunday’s Grand Prix was incredibly with Martin, Bagnaia and Marquez battling lap after lap.
At the start of the 27 laps (4.185m long track) Bagnaia got off to a good start, taking the lead already at the exit of the first chicane, remaining in the lead until eight laps from the end. At the end of the race, Márquez was added between Martín and Bagnaia and unfortunately, on the last lap, he managed to get the better of Pecco, snatching second place from him.
At the end of the French Grand Prix, Bagnaia, our Suomy Rider, is second in the standings, 38 points behind the leader Martín.
“Unfortunately these things can happen, but it surely wasn’t easy. Already from the warmup lap I felt something was different and I felt like it was difficult to do anything. The team is at work to understand what happened, but we’ll surely be good tomorrow and ready to do well. We’ve already shown we can be competitive this weekend and our pace is top-three worthy. We’re aware of our potential and we know that with a good start and the right feeling, we can battle for the win.”
Francesco Bagnaia – Sprint Race DNF
“You can never be fully satisfied if you don’t win, but it was a good race. I managed to recover the feeling from yesterday, but I didn’t feel as competitive as the other two, as they clearly had something extra today. We surely have to keep working, but generally speaking the weekend went well – sprint race aside – as we have always been competitive and fast. It was important to finish the race here at Le Mans after the results of the last two seasons here, so I’m happy about this. In the final stages, I tried to stay as close as I could to Martín in order to try and pass him at turn 13, but Marc was really strong in the third sector, and he used his speed to his advantage in order to have the better of me.”
