#DutchGP
An indescribable weekend for our Suomy Rider, Francesco Bagnaia and the Ducati team. Pecco proved once again that he is irrepressible and that he has an incredible feeling with his Ducati. Our opponents could do nothing but watch our Suomy S1 XR GP from behind all weekend.
Bagnaia was the absolute protagonist of Friday’s testing on the Dutch track, which is among his favourites, constantly remaining at the top and showing excellent speed with both medium compound and soft tyres. The time of 1:31.340 set ten minutes from the end of the afternoon session is the new track record, lowered in the race.
SPRINT RACE
Francesco Bagnaia took victory in the eighth sprint race of the season at the TT Circuit Assen. From the first spot on the grid, achieved thanks to the new absolute lap record (1:30.540), Bagnaia made a perfect start, always maintaining his lead. Pecco crossed the finish line two seconds and three tenths ahead of Martín.
RACE
Bagnaia started perfectly from pole position, managing to gain a small margin on the first lap. Thanks to an unparalleled race pace, which also saw him set the new race lap record of 1:31.866, Pecco with his S1 XR GP also won the race, after having conquered Pole and the Sprint Race.
“We are reaping the rewards of the work done since the start of the year. We started off well and made only a few adjustments on the bike, which turned out to be the right ones. We needed it, as we hadn’t topped the FP timesheets for a long time and this makes me happy. Today’s temperatures were clearly lower compared to last year so, should things stay this way, the soft tyre could also turn out to be a good option. It’s up to us to make the right choice after a few more laps under our belts tomorrow. When things go the right way, Assen is a fantastic track and it’s incredible to attack all those long corners in fourth and fifth gear. It’s a unique feeling.”
Francesco Bagnaia – Sprint Race 1th
“I really had fun this weekend and everything went perfectly. I’d like to thank the team because we did a fantastic job: on Thursday we already had a clear idea regarding the bike set-up and after FP1 we were basically ready. The race today was 30 seconds faster than last year, which is incredible. I managed to be quick and precise, the weather was fantastic and we were able to show our full potential. Next is Sachsenring, where I expect two hard-fought races.”
