For maximum safety D2O must fit tightly and be correctly and securely fastened, so it cannot be taken off neither by pulling it nor by rotating it around the head. If it is too big it may slide down over the eyes or turn in a lateral direction due to movement during riding, thus blocking visibility.

Completely removable and washable cheek pads are available in different thicknesses for complete customization of the final product.

Completely removable and washable internal shell is in different thicknesses for complete customization of the final product; The removable internal shell has been ergonomically designed for a uniform and controlled fit of the entire head. The visible aeration slots ensure that incoming air thermo-regulates the inside of the helmet and that the flow of hot air is easily discharged from the rear.

The internal elements (cheek pads and internal shell) are made entirely of COOLMAX® ACTIVE fabric with INTERPOWER treatment:

Front air intake with on/off switch to control the helmet’s ventilation;

Chin-guard air intake with on/off switch to control the helmet’s internal ventilation;

Adjustable real spoiler to control the air intake/exhaust flow.

The shell’s special shape allows air to flow along the entire exterior surface without generating vortices or turbulence, making the helmet (and therefore the final user) more stable and secure.

Thanks to wind tunnel studies and the new mechanism designed by SUOMY, the helmet has a very low aerodynamic impact, both frontally and when completely open. This makes the D2O much more stable than other flip-up helmets since aerodynamic interference is decreased consequently eliminating the creation of minor turbulences, known as the “sail effect” in aeronautics.

The flip-up D₂O + SCS, has been meticulously studied in all details: design, comfort, communication technology, reliability and security.
Built and tested in a wind tunnel to optimize the external flows and especially the ventilation inside the helmet, at first glance it appears to be a sport helmet, but when it is worn it ensures comfort that only a high range helmet can give.

The D₂O + SCS is equipped with the communication system tuner (SCS Suomy Communication System).
An important innovation in the Bluetooth ® intercoms market. The SCS has several features: the possibility of calls, listen to MP3s, listen to FM radio, chat with your travel companion and other "friends" up to 200m away.

The SCS system is different from other communication systems on the market for certain main features and more precisely:

CONFIGURATIONS

TRAVELLING ALONE
This configuration allows the user installing KIT 1 START and KIT 2 BLUETOOTH® on his helmet, to use all functions provided by Bluetooth

TRAVELLING WITH SOMEBODY intercom version
This basic configuration enables only the intercom function between rider and passenger. Users should install KIT1 START and KIT 3 CABLE.

TRAVELLING WITH SOMEBODY Bluetooth® version+ intercom
This configuration allows the user who installed the SCS system (KIT 1 START and KIT 2 BLUETOOTH®) to use all the functions foreseen by the Bluetooth and at the same time be in contact with the second person on board (installing KIT 1 START and KIT 3 CABLE) through a cable wire that works as an intercom.

TRAVELLING WITH SOMEBODY Bluetooth® version
This configuration allows both users who install KIT 1 START and KIT2 BLUETOOTH® on their D2O helmets, to use all the functions provided by Bluetooth, remaining well connected to each other.

WARNING: The connection channels are 2, then during the use of multiple functions, the user may select which switch off, with priority to telephone calls.

Please always remember to follow the laws of the country of sale, related to the Code of the Road.

RADIO INTEGRATED

The radio integrated in the SCS Suomy communication system operates in RDS modality thus allowing for the adjustment of the radio frequencies while travelling. By using the radio activation button and the rapid pressure function of the button, the system searches for the radio stations with the strongest signals.
The threshold of the signal was set in order to allow for the stronger stations to be tuned thus blocking the reception of the stations with weaker signal which would produce a disturbing sound.
Besides manual station search it is also possible to memorize 10 stations which obviously can be changed at any time.
A longer pressure on the buttons therefore allows to scroll the stations pre-set in the system.
The radio is interrupted immediately if the rider receives a phone call on the cell phone (if function is enabled).
Receiving a telephone call is always priority compared to any other function of the system followed by intercom communication, which block every other activity of the system with priority 1 and priority 2 respectively.

Audio modality
The system is supplied with the audio modality set in mono.
This choice was taken because in certain countries it is not possible to listen to stereo radio. Through the configuration program it is possible to select the favourite listening modality (mono / Stereo) and obviously in accordance with the regulations in force in the country of use.
According to the standards in force, in certain countries it is possible to use one earphone only, hence the configuration program foresees the possibility to disable the listening function on one speaker (right).

Pre-selection of radio stations
The configuration program is fitted with a database containing the frequencies of the most important radios available in the various cities. Through a simple operation it is possible to set 10 stations in the 10 memory slots available. Pre-tuning is useful only for use in limited areas (city use) where the pre-tuned radios are received on the memorized frequencies (for longer journeys it is better to use manual modality).

CONFIGURATION SOFTWARE

By using this software it is possible to completely pre-configure the electron, entering the following parameters:
• Name of helmet
• Volume of devices at switch on
• Mono/stereo
• Disable/ Enable headset
• Pre-configuring radio stations
• Recording mode message for friends
• Insert list max 10 friends
• Select area using radio (USA – Europe)

By using this software it is possible to completely pre-configure the electronics.
The following components are needed to use the configuration program:
• Pc windows (windows xp or higher)
• Bluetooth® peripheral unit (if not present in computer it is necessary to purchase an external USB peripheral unit).

All the configuration information can be transferred from the computer which they are installed on only through a Bluetooth® signal. If the computer is not equipped with the system it is necessary to purchase a Bluetooth® USB key to transfer the information to the system electronics.

FRIEND MODALITY

The intercom communication modality is not just limited to communication with the passenger.
The high level of the Bluetooth® signal obtained in fact enables communication up to a distance of approx. 200 meters (instead of the 80 meters typical of this type of signal). This feature enables the rider to communicate with a “friend” if the two helmets were first matched with each other.
This connection can be simplified by setting a max. of 10 possible friends that need to be pre-set on the system. Afterwards you can look them up and find them easily and quickly.
Another advantage of this matching system obtained through the configuration program is the possibility to enter the telephone number of the friend. If the two friends move away from each other, more than 200 meters away and the signal is lost, the system tries to restore contact. If the outcome is negative, the system calls the friends.
The friend can decide to accept or reject the call.

CONNECTION TO BLUETOOTH® TELEPHONE

This procedure is used to match the Bluetooth® telephone with the SCS kit. This link must be made the first time you use the telephone with the kit which will be considered as a normal audio earphone.
When the cell phone is connected to the helmet and it receives a phone call, you will hear an incoming buzzer tone inside the helmet (some cell phones reproduce the buzz directly on the SCS system). Lightly press the ON button to accept the call, to reject it press the ON button more firmly.
By setting the phone on automatic answer no operation must be done to answer an incoming call.
To end the call, lightly press the ON button.
The telephone call can be done as usual directly from the telephone by using the keypad.

IMPORTANT: observing the road code is very important. Do not answer or make a call while riding. Before making a call, stop the motorcycle in a safe area and start off again only after making the call.

MP3

The SCS kit is equipped with the Bluetooth® A2DP profile, this profile allows the rider to listen to music through an MP3 device (fitted with Bluetooth® communication) while wearing the helmet or through a cell phone (with A2DP profile).
This procedure aims to match the MP3 Bluetooth® with the SCS kit. It must be set the first time you use the MP3 with the kit. The MP3 will recognize the SCS kit as a standard audio earphone.
Once the MP3 has been matched with the SCS kit it is necessary to refer to the instructions manual of the MP3 device to listen to music.

COMMUNITY MODALITY

It is possible to activate the community function by using the configuration program.
This function allows two people to communicate if the other person has a Suomy helmet with the modality activated.
The periodical search carried out by the system enables the rider to send a welcome message when he/she enters the field of another helmet also in community modality.
The message can be easily recorded through the configuration program and entered in the electronics memory.
Once in the field of action of a member of the community the system will send another rider the pre-recorded message (for ex. Hi my name is XXXX, do you want to speak with me?).
After listening to the message the second rider can decide whether to ignore the invitation or accept it by simply pressing a button to start the communication.

GPS

The Suomy Communication Systemis compatible with a series of navigators. Check the list in the COMPATIBILITY section.

COMPATIBILITY

The Bluetooth® JustSpeak system is compatible with all mobile phones equipped with Bluetooth® technology which use the Headset (HSP) or Handfree (HFP) communication profile.

A2DP connection
The Bluetooth® JustSpeak system is used to listen to music in wireless high stereo quality, connecting it to the Bluetooth® A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) protocol.
Verify with the telephone or MP3 manufacturer if the device is fitted with the Bluetooth® A2DP profile, or visit the website www.a2dp.info
Many mobile phones are fitted with this Bluetooth® profile and it is possible to manage the phone calls and listen to music with just one wireless connection.
IMPORTANT: it is not possible to simultaneously connect a music device with A2DP and another JustSpeak system in intercom modality because the A2DP modality uses both channels available for the transmissions in Bluetooth® technology.

Certain cell phone models enable the connection via Bluetooth® to the navigator (verify compatibility of satellite phones by visiting the website of the navigator manufacturer). Link and connect the navigator to the telephone according to the instructions indicated in the navigator manual. After performing the operation an incoming or outgoing call will be transferred to the helmet by the navigator.

The Suomy Communication System is sold separately in 3 KITS that if installed on D2O helmets (see section SCS SYSTEM) feature and bring different strengths to your helmet.

KIT 1 - START Communication System

The KIT 1 Start provides the assembly base required for the operation and use of the "Bluetooth® Communication System" KIT 2. Alternatively it can be used as intercom with another user of the system which has mounted at least KIT1 and KIT3 cable

KIT 2 – BLUETOOTH® Communication System

The "Bluetooth® Communication System" KIT 2 provides the final upgrade for the installation of the Suomy SCS System.
This will give you the opportunity to enjoy the full potential of the SCS system, to affiliate your mobile or MP3 player to the helmet, extending its membership to other riders (200m wide) mode FRIENDS, connect GPS and to affiliate the helmet Bluetooth to the passenger by the same system installed or cable connection (KIT3) it it comes with the only D2O KIT 2 START.

Conditions
The warranty is valid from the purchasing date of the product and must be proven by the receipt (invoice, receipt or any document that unequivocally identifies the purchasing date as for example, payment through MAC card or credit card), issued by the person selling the item.

The interventions carried out under warranty do not extend the duration of the warranty which is still of two years from the purchasing date.
The product must not have been modified and/or changed: the presence of non-original accessories and/or any, even small, changes to the product, entail the immediate cancellation of the warranty terms and the release of any responsibilities on Suomy’s behalf.

The warranty is void when:
• The product has been modified, poorly painted, decorated with stickers
• Original parts have been replaced with other parts;

The Warranty does not cover damages resulting from:
• Incorrect use or non-compliant with the recommendations and requirements indicated in this manual ;
• Ordinary wear of the product ;
• Repairs made by the customers or third parties or by personnel not belonging to the Suomy S.p.A. Organization.
• Incorrect use of the product and/or use of the product in situations that do not comply with the purposes the product has been designed for or with the modalities indicated in this manual.

Validity

Suomy guarantees exclusively the helmet and its components for a period of two years from the purchasing date as regards conformity defects. Suomy undertakes to repair the defective product (or one of its part) or to replace it (at Suomy S.p.A.’s discretion), with no extra charge for the parts and the labour.

The warranty does not cover the alterations of the painted surfaces resulting from natural wear and tear phenomena (effect of sunlight, vapours, detergents, crashes, scratches).
