DESMO-DOVI STARTS MOTOGP WITH AN IMPORTANT 2ND PLACE
At the first race of the season in the highest category Andrea Dovizioso gets an important 2nd place with a competitive Ducati Desmosedici
The first MotoGP weekend starts with unusual weather conditions for a track in the middle of the Qatar desert, this situation gives some technical doubts to riders, teams and organization, until the decision to cancel Saturday’s qualifying sessions due to some puddles on track. Fright for the race start due to some drops of rain, but fortunately, the lights turn on, with some delay and humidity up to 90%.
Starting from the 4th position, Andrea Dovizioso can find the right rhythm to remain with the leading group, until he takes over the lead after 7 laps. After 14 laps, Vinales reaches the Ducati man, an exciting battle keeps the 2 riders busy for the following part of the race. On the third from last lap Vinales gets a leg up on Dovizioso.
Tyres begin to lose optimal performance on the Desmosedici and the Suomy rider decides not to risk, keeping the second position is a great result for the beginning of 2017 season.
Difficult weekend for the other Suomy riders wit SR SPORT, without the qualifying sessions they get stuck in traffic : In Moto3, Maria Herrera and Livio Loi finish respectively in 17th and 22th position; Yohnny Hernandez finish his Moto2 race in 18th.
